Day 3

Today was our first day building the house, and I can certainly say we are all exhausted. We woke up at 6ish and left our hotel at approximately 7:30. We got to the building site and were immediately put to work. Half of us were handed pick axes and shovels, while the other half were given wheelbarrows. Our day consisted of digging trenches, moving dirt and shoveling sand. Everyone worked extremely hard and had fun doing it. Through out the day we were served fresh fruit including pineapple, cantaloupe and watermelon. For lunch we got delicious chicken, potato salad, rice, and a local delicacy called papousas. Papousas are tortilla filled with rice and cheese, they are very tasty, or in as we say in Spanish ”Muy Sabroso.” This evening we all relaxed, and walked to the grocery store to pick up some goodies. Can’t wait for tomorrow!
